What Is The Difference Between Multiple Hosted Domains and Domain Forwarding?

Adding additional domain names to your existing hosting account results in a more seamless user experience. For example, if your Web site is hosted at "mydomain.com" and you add the domain name "myfirstdomain.com" and point it at the root hosting directory, then any Web users that navigate to "myfirstdomain.com" will see the content located at "mydomain.com." The URL they used to get to the site remains the same. Under most of our hosting plan, you can point an additional domain name to any content subdirectory.

With domain forwarding, the Web browser connects to one Web server, and that Web page redirects the browser to another server. In this case, a Web user who types "myfirstdomain.com" is redirected to "mydomain.com." The URL will change from "myfirstdomain.com" to "mydomain.com."

Adding a domain to an existing hosting account is typically faster than forwarding and is more transparent to Web users. For more information, see Adding Domains To Your Hosting Account (Windows)
