Adding WWW Prefixes to Subdomains

If you want to add the www prefix to a subdomain, you must first add the subdomain to your domain name. Then, you can add the prefix through the Total DNS Control interface. For more information about adding subdomains, see Creating and Forwarding a Subdomain.

To Add a WWW Prefix to a Subdomain

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. From the Domain Names menu, select Manage Domains.
  3. Click the domain for which you want to add the prefix.
  4. Click Total DNS Control and MX Records.
  5. Click Add New CNAME Record.
  6. In the Enter an Alias Name field, create an entry by appending the www prefix to your subdomain. For example, www.one, where one is the subdomain for your domain.
  7. In the Points to Host Name field, enter your Web site URL. For example, one.coolexample.com.
  8. Click OK.

It takes up to 24 - 48 hours for the change to become effective.
