What Type of Organization Can Request an Extended Validation SSL Certificate?

Any incorporated or limited liability company which is legally registered in the U.S. and verified with a registered status of "Good Standing," "Active" or equivalent can apply for an Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificate.
Note: Entities that do not meet the above requirements currently cannot request EV SSL certificates. However, the CA/Browser Forum (the organization that defines the EV SSL standards) is presently working on ways to support other types of businesses for EV SSL certificate issuance.
